ABSTRACT

Objective: The coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) has significantly affected human health around the world, causing many complications. However, it is not fully understood how the body compositions of individuals affected in the short or long term after disease. In this study, we aimed to show the effects of Covid-19 on body composition and phase angle values, using Bioelectrical Impedance Analyzer. Methods: Subjects were selected from individuals in the 18-60 age group, who had survived COVID-19 disease. 33 individuals who had survived it 1-3 months ago, and 30 individuals who had survived it 3-6 months ago were included in the study. Results: Effects of COVID-19 on basal metabolism and body composition and the ratio of damaged cells in the body after the disease were determined. Basal metabolic rate, lean body mass, body cell mass, total body fluid, intracellular fluid, and phase angle values were found to be significantly changed in the 3-6 months range compared to that of 1-3 months. Conclusions: These results indicate that the basal metabolism and body composition parameters of the body become better, and the proportion of damaged cells decreases as time goes on after suffering COVID-19, reaching values close to normal in 1-3 months and quite better values in 3-6 months. It can be concluded that, although covid-19 influences body composition parameters and cell integrity in survivors of Covid 19 disease, these effects are limited to 3-6 months.

ABSTRACT

Boron-hydrogen (B-H) materials are used as hydrogen and heat sources, due to their reducing potential. It has been shown again with the COVID-19 pandemic that greenhouse gas activities are anthropogenic in origin. In particular, the conversion of carbon dioxide (CO2) into valuable chemicals has an important place in the fight against the climate crisis. The conversion of anthropogenic CO2 into valuable chemicals has important implications for a habitable world. In many studies in the literature, boron hydrides have been used to produce, hydrogen and convert carbon dioxide into valuable chemicals. Formic acid and methanol obtained by hydrogenation can be seen as the clean energy movement of the future with its value in hydrogen storage. The type of valuable chemicals that will be formed by the hydrogenation of CO2 is directly related to the method to be followed. The type of catalyst used, or how much hydrogen molecule interacts with CO2, determines the valuable chemical that will form. Disturbances in the thermodynamics of the hydrogenation of CO2 have been tried to be eliminated by various types of catalysts and necessary condition optimizations. Many catalysts and methods developed for the hydrogenation of CO2 were examined. This study discusses the use of B-H materials via catalytic conversion of CO2 into valuable chemicals in terms of critical factors such as reaction conditions, selection of catalyst, and solvent. © 2022 Proceedings of WHEC 2022 - 23rd World Hydrogen Energy Conference: Bridging Continents by H2. ABSTRACT

Aim: The riskiest working group in pandemics is healthcare workers. This study sought to determine the effect of the coronavirus 2019 pandemic on the mental health of healthcare workers. Material and Methods: The study, designed as a case-control, clinical observation study, was conducted on healthcare workers working in pandemic clinics during the pandemic period. One hundred fifty-three healthcare workers included. The study form included demographic data, marital status, working hours, job, Insomnia Severity Index, Patient Health Questionnaire-9 and Beck's Depression Inventory, and clinical questions. Turkish-adapted versions of all scales were applied. Results: In our clinical observation study, 26.2% of healthcare professionals working in pandemic clinics during the pandemic period were depressed (according to Beck's Depression Inventory), 39.8% had moderate and severe depression (according to the Patient Health Questionnaire-9), and 58.6% had insomnia (according to the Insomnia Severity Index). However, there was no significant difference between the subgroups of health workers in terms of depression and insomnia. Discussion: All medical and non-medical healthcare workers working in COVID 19 clinics during the pandemic have been widely adversely affected by the process.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: This study aims to determine the fear of COVID-19 through the opinions of individuals under the age of 18 on the COVID-19 vaccine and vaccination. METHODS: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 290 high school students studying in a central district between February 15, 2021, and March 1, 2021. The questionnaire consisted of questions about the sociodemographic characteristics of the students and COVID-19 infection and the Fear of COVID-19 Scale. RESULTS: The age of the participants ranged from 14-18;76.9% of the study group consisted of female students;and 76.9% of the participants declared that they live in middleincome households. Participants reported that they lived in the same house with at least 2 and a maximum of 12 people;9.7% of the participants reported that they had a COVID-19 infection;62.4% of the participants reported that they want to get the COVID-19 vaccine;and 55.2% of the participants reported that the COVID-19 vaccine will reduce the transmission. The mean obtained from the Fear of COVID-19 Scale is 3.38+/-4.75 in the whole group. It was determined that there was a significant difference between genders, the effect of the vaccine on the incidence, the status of having a COVID-19 infection, and the score of the Fear of COVID-19 Scale. CONCLUSION: The attitudes of young individuals, who are one of the vulnerable groups during pandemic periods, toward vaccination are important in terms of infecting those they come into contact with and increasing the rate of infection.
